An automated warehouse enables Boonthavorn to ensure color consistency in ceramic tiles while significantly improving storage efficiency and SKU traceability across its high-volume operations.

[About The Project]

Boonthavorn stands at the forefront of Thailand's home improvement sector, offering an extensive range of products sourced globally. The company manages a vast inventory exceeding 30,000 SKUs for home improvement products, some of which weigh as much as 1.5 tons, necessitating a robust system to handle a significant volume of daily imported shipments. To enhance its operational capabilities and storage capacity, particularly for its ceramic tiles inventory, Boonthavorn explored the development of an automated warehousing facility.

[Problem Statement]

Boonthavorn were unable to effectively locate specific SKUs as the same ceramic tile with the same color had different shades when baked in different ovens or on different days. Boonthavorn must make sure the ceramic tile is baked on the same day and in the same oven to ensure color consistency for clients who want to purchase additional tiles.

[Our Solution]

In response to Boonthavorn's ambitious expansion goals, Auto Motion Works recommended the implementation of an advanced Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS). This state-of-the-art system is designed to optimize warehousing operations. Featuring stacker cranes and accommodating ten thousands of locations, It boasts an impressive product handling capacity that significantly enhances Boothavorn’s warehouse efficiency.

The ASRS system is further enhanced with the integration of a pallet stacker and dispenser. This addition streamlines pallet management by systematically organizing and recycling the master pallet within a closed-loop system, which not only optimizes storage but also extends the durability of the wooden pallets.

Moreover, the system is engineered to seamlessly connect with Boonthavorn’s existing SAP Warehouse Management System (WMS), facilitated by a bespoke Application Programming Interface (API). This integration ensures a cohesive operation between the new Warehouse Control System (WCS) and the existing WMS, allowing for a more streamlined and efficient workflow.

Since its inception in 2017, the automated warehouse system developed and installed by Auto Motion Works for Boonthavorn has been operational, marking a significant milestone in the company's journey towards achieving unparalleled efficiency in warehouse management and operations.
